Make a difference in your community.
RICan is always looking for passionate volunteers to help us operate our food pantry, thrift shoppe, and other events. So come on in and give your neighbors a hand.
We Appreciate Your Time.
Here at RICan, there are so many ways to help out and get involved in an organization that’s right in your backyard. As a volunteer-run nonprofit, we owe a lot to our dedicated corps of over 70 volunteers. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, though children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
We offer volunteer hours for casual patrons and mandatory service workers Mon-Fri 9:30 am-3:30 pm.
Our food pantry volunteers are crucial to the success of our food rescue program and food pantry. Responsibilities include helping unload our delivery truck, sorting products, and stocking shelves.
Our diligent thrift shoppe volunteers help keep our little store thriving. Responsibilities include stocking items, sorting and folding clothing, and assisting customers with finding items.
Our administrative volunteers help keep our office spaces running as smooth as possible. Responsibilities include answering phones, data entry, word processing, and filing and stuffing envelopes.
Our events staff help support us in our ongoing fundraising and special events efforts. Opportunities include helping at our annual events, such as our polar plunge, toy drive, wine and spirits fundraiser, and summer golf tournament.
The RICan events planning committee meets once a month. Check out our Events page for more information.
