** COVID-19 Update: At this time, we have suspended our in-pantry client choice shopping and are pre-bagging food for our weekly distribution. We apologize for the inconvenience.
RICan believes you have the right to choose what to eat. That is why our pantry offers a variety of fresh, frozen or packaged food items that guests can choose for themselves. It’s not quite like a trip to the grocery store, but it’s close!
Guests can visit our food pantry once a week based on need and eligibility screening. We offer our food distribution on Wed and Thurs mornings from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., as well as Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. In addition, we also distribute Friday afternoons from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Guests can consult with on-site coordinators from the University of Rhode Island’s Feinstein Center for a Hunger-Free America for information and application materials for the SNAP program.
